Tammy Horton

Honorary Website Officer of the Porcupine Marine Natural History Society

Dr. Tammy Horton is a Research Fellow at the National Oceanography Centre. She is an expert in peracarid taxonomy, ecology and biodiversity and has a particular fascination for deep-sea scavenging amphipods and mouth-inhabiting isopod parasites of fish. Her recent scientific contributions have resulted in the descriptions of more than 20 species new to science. She has worked on projects funded by NERC, BP, the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, and reports results in peer-reviewed publications, as well as web, print, and radio media. She is also the manager of the Discovery Collections at NOCs – a unique collection of deep-sea samples. She is a keen Porcupine Council member and the person you can blame when things go wrong on the website.
