Paul Brazier

Ordinary Council Member of the Porcupine Marine Natural History Society

Paul lives in north Wales with his family and works as an intertidal ecologist. As a child, visiting grandparents in Lyme Regis, Paul had a particular interest in the marine life, and the aquarium on the breakwater was a favourite place. Having learned to dive before leaving school, Paul continued to dive through his University days, when he studied Zoology and Microbiology (not believing that there were any jobs in marine biology at that time) and in local diving clubs during subsequent working years. He worked in food quality control and freshwater lake chemistry, before clinching a job with the JNCC, surveying the shores and subtidal habitats and species of north east England, south east Scotland and north and mid Wales as part of the MNCR project. Paul is fortunate enough to have worked in the intertidal team at the Countryside Council for Wales since then. Paul has also been involved in voluntary projects run by the MCS such as Seasearch
